Reading a job offer across borders
Take two real-looking offers from two countries and compare them properly: take-home pay, the life around it, and what the employer adds.
Thu, Nov 5 · 7:00 PM to 8:15 PM IST
Starts in 10 days
About this session
Two offers, two countries, one decision. In this session we take a pair of sample offers and work through them the way the guide on this site recommends: what you keep, what the life costs, and what the employer provides.
You will leave with a one-page comparison you can reuse for your own offers, and a clear sense of which questions to ask the employer before you answer.
What we will cover#
- Gross pay, take-home pay and why they differ
- Pricing a household, not a person
- Benefits, leave and the things that sit outside the salary
- The timeline: when you can actually start
The session is based on our article How to compare a job offer across countries.

Maya Iyer
Cross-border employment attorney
Maya has spent fifteen years helping people read, negotiate and sign job offers that span two countries. She writes about what contracts promise and what they quietly leave out.
Maya brings real contract clauses to this session, with the names removed, so we can read them together.

Is there a recording?
